no audio on dvd with sp2

Since installing sp2 (xp home os) the audio on dvd has been sometime quiet,
muddy and chirping. Do problems with cd. I have put in a different sound
card, so the problem is not there. Have also updated aspi driver. Any
suggestions?

Yikes! Typos all over. Not "sometimes" quiet, etc., but always. Should be
"NO problems with cd". The dvd drive is optorite dd1205. I use mostly Nero
as software, but I've tried it with other software -- power dvd and others --
and have the same audio problem.
