No animated gifs

I have a bunch of animated gifs on my computer. They animate just fine.

However, if I encounter any animated gifs on a website, they do no animate.
They just sit there. I know that they are animated because they animate on
my wife's computer.

I am using Win XP Pro and I.E.6.

For some reason, my browser is not displaying animation in gifs.

There have been some firewall software that prevent gifs from animating.
Some other users had the same problem.

If you have any such software, you may want to disable it temporarily and
see if that fixes the problem.

Otherwise, make sure you have animated gifs enabled in your Internet Options
(ie in Internet Options, Advanced, Multimedia)

To add to my post: If I download an animated gif from the web, it is saved
as a .bmp file. Don't know if there is any connection.

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files.

That should solve the problem with .gifs being saved as .bmp files (when the
Temporary Internet Files gets full, IE can't save the image file in the
proper format).

Thank you Jason. You were right.

Zone Alarm was the culprit. It also accounted for the problem with the
download of images as bmp.
