No Add permission for Win2k

We recently upgraded from NT Server to Win2K Server. On NT we had a Drop
folder where users could Add and Read files/folders but not Edit or Delete
files/folders. After reviewing the permissions available on Win2K it
looks like this is now impossible because Create Files/Write Data is lumped
together as a single permission.

I found some XP documentation that references NT style permissions but I
think it's simply out-of-date. See it here...

Any help setting up a Drop style folder where Authenticated Users can Add
and Read files but not Edit or Delete would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kurt.

Here is something to try. In W2K, ntfs special permissions are very flexible once you
figure them out. Try giving the users read/list permissions. Then go to the advanced
page in security, select add and the users group. Then in the apply onto box, select
this folder only and select everything except full control, both deletes, change
permissions, and take ownership. Hit OK and you should see two entries in "permission
entries" for your users group in the advanced page, though only one entry in the main
page.--- Steve
