When I click on volume control I get the error
message"There are no active mixer devices available."I
have reinstalled sound card many times but still get the
error message.I have a dual boot system and the sound
card works on the other system.I have xp pro.

did u ever find a solution to that problem? i am having the same thing

Have you tried reinstalling your soundcard, you may have corrupt
files or some of them were not installed? Check your utility disks
that came with your PC when you purchased it.

Need help! I have no sound. It happened after i deleted a bunch of viruses off of my control panal.. Well not viruses but adwar and toolbars. I really need sound!

right click "my computer" -> properties -> hardware -> device manager -> sound, video, game controllers -> right click on ur soundcard and uninstall the driver

go to control panel, add hardware.. win xp then will install the driver for u again..

i got the same problem, and i solved it in this way

I followed these steps. Hower i received a message saying that the device cannot not start (code 10). During the reinstall it asked that i insert any software that came with the hardware that was being reinstalled. UNfortunately the computer i'm using is second hand and didn't come with any software. I s there another solution to this besides purchasing more software?
