No Access to Contacts

Using Vista Home Premium, I am no longer able to open Contacts.
I can access Contacts by clicking on To: when creating mail, however.
I cannot open contacts using the Windows Contacts entry in my Program list,
either.
This only started happening last week, and I haven't installed any software
that
would (obviously) affect the Contact List (address Book.)

Any clues?

Do you have Outlook 2000 installed?
Which antivirus are you using?

No Outlook 2000, and using Windows One Care.

That eliminates two likely culprits.
The only other suggestion I have is to upgrade to Windows
Live Mail because its contacts work much better.

Thanks Gary, but I'd rather try to fix the problem.
While Mail does have its quirks, it works fine for me.
I tried Live Mail and didn't like it (forget why).
Maybe someone else will have a clue!
