Nikon FH-3 strip holder and Efke 25

I am having the Nikon SC5000 freeze when scanning Efke 25 neg strips.
The sprocket holes seem to be acurate when placed over other films but
I think the base is perhaps a little thicker. In any event I cannot
scan the Efke 25, and thats a shame because this stuff is NICE! Will
the STRIP FILM HOLDER FH-3 solve my problem? Or is there some other
issue going on here, perhaps the base is not transparent enough? It
crashes both in Nikon scan 4 and Vuescan. I can load in another type
of film and no problem. Any ideas?

Try putting a single frame of Efke25 in a slide mount holder and scan
that - if it works then it is likely that the FH-3 will allow you to
scan an entire strip, if not then it is unlikely that it will work.

My guess is it probably will be OK, but I don't know why it isn't
working with the normal film strip feeder. You might want to try
changing the film type from neg to transparency to see if that helps - I
have noticed a similar freezing problem with NikonScan 4.02 if the wrong
type of film is inserted from what the scanner expects.
