Nikon 9000 does not detect tray

Hello !

I am having some problems with my new scanner... It was damaged in
transport, and I had to send it back to Nikon.

I got it back today, but I could not start it up...

When I start Nikon Scan, I get the message "The scanner has reported a
hardware error. Please reset the scanner by switching on and off. If this
does not work, please contact your local Nikon Service or Support office".

When I switch it on and off, I get "Nikon Scan was unable to find any active
device"...

Yet, XP shows the scanner as installed and operating correctly.

When I try to insert the tray, nothing happens : the tray does not feed
automatically in.

Of course, the repair to the transport damage is guaranteed by Nikon, and
they will fix the new problem with no charge (hopefully !). I contacted the
Technical Service, but if I could find a way to get it working without
sending it back, that would be better...

Thanks !

The only thing you can do is remove the Nikon software and reinstall
it, per directions on your install card. If that doen't work call tech
support they maybe able to help over the phone. If they can't complain
about having to ship something back they should have fixed the first
time. Sometimes works, but it probably have to go back to Nikon, could
have been damaged in transit again.

Thank you. I did as suggested : Nikon told me to disconnect the scanner from
the computer, to power it, and watch the LED. If it blinks rapidly, it means
that there is indeed a problem. It did blink, and I sent it back to Nikon...
(their first repair included a warranty, fortunately).
