Can you turn off the nickname feature in outlook 2007.
When I sync with my smart phone it puts the nickname in
as a middle name in my contacts. That bugs me.

outlook automatically assigns a contact a nickname when you close the program.

Outlook creates a field called "Email Display As" which is used for
autoresolution. If that's what you're referring to, you can turn off
autoresolution if you want, but that seems a poor workaround for sync
software that is defective.

open outlook, open contacts, open a contact, click on display, there is the
box nickname. i can create a contact and nothing will be there until i close
outlook and then reopen it. this all happens before i ever try to sync.

Outlook does not and never has populated that field automatically. You must
have an add-in or some other code running.
