Nic Card Speed

On my XP, how do I tell what speed the Nic Card is currently running at.

It says it is a 10/100 card. but not what mode it is running at. Is there a
way to tell how fast the data is transfered in and out of the Card?

Thanks,

Tom

Run Perfmon and see the Network counters (not sure if only on XP Pro - but
TaskManager may also have a Network tab). HTH

The network icon in the tray shows the connection speed.

There isn't a network icon in my tray. Lots of other things - but network
icon. Do I need to set something to have it show up?

Thanks,

Tom

I assume the Performance Object would be what I would want. But which
counters should I be using to see this?

Thanks,

The Network Performance object "Bytes Total" can show the transfer rate -
try a larger transfer.

One more thing - if the NIC has lights: usually Green = 100m and
yellow/orange = 10m

Just run TaskMgr and choose the Networking Tab. One of the
columns it shows is "Link Speed". If not shown, Click View &
Choose "Select Columns" and add it.
Most times NICs use a function called "AutoSense" to select
the appropriate speed, you can manually change if desired.

Go to control panel. Drill down to Network Connections. Right click on your
adapter card. Choose "status".
