Hmm, I was about to download the Eval XPe FP2007 you mentioned when I
noticed this in the help file installation notes:

"Note There are two types of Windows XP Embedded: full and evaluation.
You cannot use evaluation tools to connect to a full version of the
component database. The types of the tools and of the component database
must match. Install the appropriate tools type for the component database
you will be connecting to."

We have the "full" (purchased) version of Windows Embedded Studio SP2. Does
that mean we can not install the FP2007 mentioned below because it is an
EVAL version?

Thanks,

That issue of 'eval connect to retail DB' is not applicable here.

If you're an OEM that is distributing XPe devices, you pick up properly
retail licensed XPe software from the OEM Secure Web site. To get bits
onto that site takes the release managers days to a week longer than
simply uploading bits to the standard download center.

OEMs that are not yet shipping products and just evaluating the XPe
product don't have access to the oem secure site. So we make things
available to them on the download center. This will have the 'eval'
license on the web page, even if the bits are binary identical to the
retail bits on the oem secure site!

Now, you can go download the 'eval' bits from the download center and
use them right now and it will be exactly the same experience as if you
pulled the retail version from the oem secure site, but according to the
licence you have to accept on the 'eval' web page, you can't ship any
software built from it.

This is very frustrating to me, and we're trying to expedite this
process of getting the iso onto the secure site for you guys, i
apologize for this confusion. You can install this FP07 eval disk right
now, and in a couple days or hours when it's up there on the oem secure
site, just uninstall the FP07 and reinstall from the oem secure, even
though technically they are exactly the same.
