Instead of using Outlook Express, does anyone know of a good newsreader that
is good and free?

Thanks

The date and time was Thursday, May 14, 2009 1:01:47 PM, and on a whim,
William Klivans pounded out on the keyboard:

Hi William,

Mozilla Thunderbird handles newsgroups well:

You don't have to use it for email, although it works well for that too.

Every newsreader has a different set of features and differing
strengths and weaknesses. So what's best for me, or anyone else here,
isn't necessarily what's best for you. As a single example of what I
mean, some are good for binary newsgroups and others are terrible for
that; since I don't do binary newsgroups, I don't care about that
feature, but *you* might.

My recommendation is to avoid anyone's recommendation, especially of
you are only interested in free newsreaders. Since you don't have to
pay for them, try *all* the free newsreaders, and decide for yourself
which one *you* like best.

But if, despite what I say, you really want other people's opinions,
it would be to do explain why you want something other than Outlook
Express. What do you not like about Outlook Express, or what features
are you looking for that Outlook Express doesn't have?

I also like Agent, but bear two things in mind:

1. What's best for you and me isn't necessarily what's best for him.

2. He asked for a *free* newsreader.

"helmsman" is still using the FreeAgent... which has been unavailable
for quite some time.
