Aside from what is inside Outlook Express, what is your favorite newsreader
application on Windows XP? I'm looking for a good, full-featured one.

Thanks.

@drian.

That depends. Outlook Express isn't even a real news-reader. However because
its convenient most of the time that is what I use for text only newsgroups.
Since I'm a huge midi fan, and make and share midi files, I like to use
Forte Agent 1.9. Its ease of use and ability to encode yEnc is a bonus.

However if you like the feel of Outlook Express, you can set up Gravity
news-reader to look and feel and pretty much perform just like Outlook on
steroids.

Xnews is a little more difficult to set up and get operational. It also is
somewhat of a bear when downloading midi's, so I scraped it.

Those are the only three I'm familiar with.

Hi,

I'm just curious what it is that some believe "a real news-reader" is?

One that does dishes? Cooks? Has sex on demand?

Express. Rather than say that directly, they somehow feel the
need to denigrate Outlook Express.

Ken,

I think you make an excellent point. thanks.

Thanks for pointing out Xnews and Gravity, which believe it or not, I had
heard of but thought they were UNIX only!

No, Outlook Express is NOT a news-reader. Its a great email client that has
news capability.

It encourages top posting which makes threads more difficult to follow
(guilty) and that is just one example. I don't really have the time to
detail the differences.
