Can anyone tell me why my newsgroups have stopped downloading messages? They
have been working great until 23 Mar, and that was the last time anything
was downloaded. I have checked the newsgroup address is ok in Tools, but I
can't understand why this newsgroup is updating, but not the others. I have
tried clicking Headers, but no joy. Can someone out there please help?
Thanks Beryl

How are you using the newsgroup server settings provided by your
Internet Service Provider?? If yes, then take up this issue with
them, since they may not be supporting their newsgroup servers
anymore.

The newsgroups are updated regularly when accessing thru Google Groups.

I see you're using Outlook Express.

My observation has been that every once in a while OE will stop downloading
new headers for a given newsgroup for no apparent reason--while other groups
continue working perfectly fine. This can go on for days if not weeks.
Then all of a sudden it'll start getting new updates on its own again,
without any user intervention.

I've had various levels of success unsubscribing/resubscribing to the group
in question, and/or deleting the associated cache file
([newsgroupname].dbx).

occasionally the ms servers get out of sync.
it might help to reset the group and download fresh.
caution this might download all available messages from the server unless you have a limit set.
if you have a limit set, when done reading the few you want, do a CATCH UP.
right click on the GROUP name , select Properties, and Local Folder then click on the RESET button.
click on the GET Headers button.

Is this with Outlook Express? Do you mean that you successfully get messages
from microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, but not from any other newsgroups?

What news server do you get microsoft.public.windowsxp.general from? What
are the newsgroups you can't get, and what news server(s) are you trying to
get them from?
