Newsgroups in Outlook

I have been using Outlook Express until very recently but have now switched
to Outlook as I find it much better for storing/sorting e-mails.

There doesn't, however, seem to be a way of accessing newsgroups in Outlook.
The 'help' section simply instructs on how to add 'news' to the 'Go' menu
and this then simply opens OE again ... then there are the messages about
whether I want to make OE my default, etc, etc.

Is there no way of accessing newsgroups in Outlook itself?

Nope

Outlook is an e-mail client. It has no NNTP (network news transfer
protocol) support. That is why Outlook calls Outlook Express (which does
support NNTP) to do newsgroups.

By the way, you can get support for NNTP in Outlook but not by any options
within Outlook. You have to *ADD* support for NNTP by getting a plug-in,
like Newshound (http://www.shorelinesoftware.com/), which lets you do NNTP
from within Outlook rather than calling another program (Outlook Express).
Do you really feel the need to buy a $30 plug-in just because OE actually
does the NNTP stuff?

Thanks for the advice.

I do not believe Office Outlook has a News Reader built in.
