Newsgroup list incomplete

This is a wild one. I teach for an online college and suddenly, a server
I've long used for faculty business began to prompt me for a password, when
it never had before. Soon after that, I began to get messages the the
newsgroups to which I'd been subscribed for over a year were no longer on the
server. I checked with the college techs, and we set things up again (though
all the settings had been right to begin with) but...nothing changed. I'm
still getting an incomplete list of newsgroups to download, and the ones I'd
been subscribed to for ages are not on it.

What could suddenly have changed. The server is correct...all the settings
are correct, but suddenly...nada. BTW, all of the computers on our wireless
network have the same problem. I recently reset the DNS address because
Comcast conflicts with Microsoft and I needed to download some things from
the Microsoft site. But I'd done this before without having any newsgroup
issues.

In fact, all my other servers and newsgroups for the college are working
just fine. Strangest thing I've ever seen. AVG is not interfering
either--or hadn't been.

Click on Tools, then Newsgroups, then this newsgroup account, then Reset
List and see if that helps make the list complete. Then click on OK.

If you installed AVG with the standard install, it may help to uninstall it
and then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that
scans email.
