In the Outlook Newsgroup reader, the instruction to "Hide Read Messages"
under View-Current View is not recognized after exiting a newsgroup. The
only manner to delete read messages is through the Maintenance tab to Clean
Up Now and Delete. The same result when accessing newsgroups through Outlook
Express directly. Any suggestions?

You used a view to *hide* certain messages. You did NOT select a view
that will *delete* them. It is a *view*, not an *action*. If you want
to delete the messages, do so. You could use the maintenance method you
mentioned. You could highlight the messages (using Shift+click or
Ctrl+click) or all of them (Ctrl+A) and hit the Del key or use Ctrl+D.
Keyboard shortcuts are described in OE's own help.

Outlook doesn't provide access to newsgroups. It calls Outlook Express
to handle NNTP (Network News Transfer Protocol) for newsgroups. That's
why you saw the same behavior between Outlook "News" and Outlook Express
because you in Outlook Express both times.
