I have an asus pd2gd MB, 3.2 ghtz processor, 512 mb ram, 75 gb hd. I set up
the network or so I thought and I can access the internet on this "hub
computer connected to the internet over a cable modem. The MB has a wireless
antenna that is running in soft Access Point mode. I have a laptop with a
wi/fi card that finds the network and connects without problem. Over the
wi/fi connection I can connect through the "hub" computer to the internet
without problem. I then ran through the wireless setup wizard (used the usb
update option on the laptop). However I can't see the hub computer (and of
course the shared folders on the hub computer) with my laptop.

When I try to view workgroup computers I get an error that MSHOME is not
accessable. You might not have permission to view this resource. Does
anyone have suggestions or any place I could look for ideas? Thanks in
advance.

More info. I tryed typing in the ip address on my laptop of my "hub"
However, it didn't connect. I tried pinging the address and I was getting a
loop back. I don't know if this helps at all.

Carey,
I changed the settings as you recommended. I was then able to see both
computers. However, it still said I didn't have permission. I then noticed
that I had an old firewall on my laptop. Turned it off and everything
started poping up.

Good to know. But just to correct you a bit... You said you changed the
settings as recommended and that it almost worked and then you turned off
the firewalls. The very FIRST step of my instructions is to uninstall any
firewalls. It amazes me that people skip steps and are surprised when it
doesn't work.

In any event, glad to hear you got it figured out!

Carey
