Newbie seeking help!

I've good AVG 7, the paid version, and naively thought I was
spotlessly clean. It is set to update every day. I ran "Stinger" on
my system and it found 5 infected files, mydoom. Checking my AVG
setup, I see that e-mail is showing not fully functional. (I use
Eudora, Windows XP) I have tried installing the Eudora plugin,
without success, still showing, not fully functional. Any kind soul
have any advice or info that is likely to help me set this up
correctly? AVG should pick this virus up, shouldn't it?
