Newbie question -can I use FP extensions on a site I host myself?

W

I am using FrontPage 2003 and want to use FrontPage extensions on a site I
am hosting on an old PC. At present the only tool I have used that needs FP
extensions is a visitor counter.

However when I try to publish, I get the error:
The folder "H:\abc" is contained by a server-based Web site.
To access this site you must use the http:// url for the Web server.

Let me point out that the H:\abc folder is just a storage location on the
same machine as the web server -- a folder where I've copied all the files
and folders from the actual working location. I want to publish this to my
web server. I have tried to do this by opening the current web site in FP
(which seems to work okay) and the setting the H:\abc folder as the remote
web site (which give me the error).

I have already installed the 2002 FP extensions, and my web server is
running XP Pro.

Can anyone tell me the actual meaning of the error message? There is no
http:// url for the storage folder, only for the web site.

You have to publish to http://ipaddress/webname, not to a disk-based location, such as h:\abc
