Newbie Probs: Storyboard Preview Freezes

Totally new to all this. I can capture MPEG2 with my display adapter. They
import into Movie Maker which automagically! separates them into scenes.
When I drag scenes onto the storyboard all works well until I try to rewind
and preview. Then it says "playing" but the playback freezes. Scenes are 10
to 20 seconds. If I have one scene on the storyboard it works; two scenes or
more and it hangs. If I then try to delete a scene the program hangs. Any
help much appreciated.

512 MB RAM
900 MHz Athlon
30 G free space.
All in Wonder Radeon 32 MB
DirectX 9
Movie Maker 2.0.3312.0

This is what I would do first.
Try shutting down any running programs. Go here
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,247745,00.aspfor enditall.....it also
works with XP. I would also try defragging the hard drive. Let us know.....
