Newbie needs help installing Window XP Home Edition

I was running Home up till last week, had a new 40g hard drive
installed and the tech installed window Pro in French.. I have
installed and reformatted before.....but because of the 40g I need
some info.
Since I have no disk for Pro...can I use my Home disk, is it Ok to
format in Fat..( presently Pro is formatted in NTF) any special
advice...
My main reason for wanting to switch back....Home was running
great....This Pro version seems to act up...an Example is the CD Rom
turns on by itself and everyday in the registry this appears

C:\WINDOWS\system32\advapi32.dll[MofResourceName]

Also every 4=5 minutes the cursor changes into the hour glass

yes you can or should be able to. do you have a dos boot
disk with fdisk.exe on it. respond to this

No I dont't, all I have is my original xp howme version that came with
my PC and a window millenium rescue diskette..
