newbie- merge module

What is the concept of merge module. Many sites tell how to make a
merge module but could not find any site telling what is a merge
module. Please let me know if you have any good links.

A merge module is to be used as part of a setup project. Say you have some
components you want to include in several setup projects, thne create a
merge module and include this in your setu projects instead of adding the
components in each setup project.
