Keith

A new XP upgrade from ME went well on installing. The
computer flashes up well, logon goes great.

Hit the start button and try to do something and a box
comes up with "Remote Procedure Call terminated
unexpectedly, computer will shut down in 60 seconds.

Can't do anything before the countdown hits zero.
Wow...Great product..

Any Ideas?

see my posting under RPC Shutdown further down the page.
Blasterworm? not sure about that. Need an answer.

Keith where you been the last several months? The fix for this is posted
all over ms newsgroups and the internet.

Go get the latest rpc patch from ms.

Greetings --

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabling a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and/or before
installing the KB824146 Hotfix, you're very likely to get infected
from any of the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly
broadcasting the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few
seconds of exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
