New XP installation and Windows updates

I need to update a fairly new installation that has only a 56k dial up
connection. Is it possible to copy files from an existing, up to date XP
installation rather than having to download from Windows Update. Are any of
the files left cached in some location? I notice some updates appear in the
Add/Remove Programs list, so these at least presumably have an installer on
disk somewhere.
