I have a crap computer that is doing me head in and I want to run restore or
recovery windows xp. However, my machine is an e-machine and it does not give
me much option apart from loosing all my files. Which I don't want to do.
Pleazee offer some advice if you can./

Thanks

Back up your files to CD or DVD or a free 'net storage place, or get an
external drive to back up to ... the list goes on. Then try to do a Repair
Install. If it works right, you most likely won't lose much data. But if
it doesn't work, you'll have to do a full in stall, in which case you'll
need your backups to put all the data back on it.

For an OEM system you're limited by the recovery options provided by the
computer manufacturer. If all they offer is a destructive recovery, then
that's it. That's one of many reasons why I prefer a installation with a
retail version of XP.
