'New Window' is opened while old one closes

In IE 6 SP1 when using the 'File\New\Window' or 'Open
In\New Window' commands a new window opens successfully
but the original browser closes. The syptom came about
after running Windows updates for XP on September 7,
2003. The browser also has two third-party toolbars
installed from Google and m-w.com. All suggestions are
welcome. Thanks

See whether the option to reuse windows for launching shortcuts is
clear. If not, clear it, then apply\okay your way out. (Probably
wouldn't hurt to reboot.)
