my virus protection system has detected a new virus
entitled "win32.poza" worm. i was wondering if there was
a patch available to protect against/delete this worm.
any information on the nature would be greatly
appreciated.

Yeah - a LONG time ago. It's another name for the MSblaster worm.

Following the steps.

Then going here frequently:
http://windowsupdate,microsoft.com/
Updating at least critical updates often.
