Hi,
I recently installed a new user account. My idea was to create a "guest"
account so a visiting friend could use my computer, but not have access to
all my personal files. It seems like a difficult thing to figure out, how
to restrict this person's access. It's very hard to find help in microsofts
"user account setup" help, all they tell you how to do is change the picture
icon you see at logon.
my computer is wired to 2 other home pc's i use for other hobbies, so all my
drives are shared. I read somewhere that you have to restore your drives
(partitions) to "un-shared" status to protect them from the guest account I
have. I tried that but my guest account can still access all my partitions.
another strange thing that happens after switching over to the guest
account, when I switch back to my own "admin" account, my dual monitor
desktop arrangement all reverts back to my primary (left-hand) monitor. I
try to move some of my desktop icons back to monitor 2 and they snap right
back to monitor 1.
if anyone has any comments about either how to restrict my guest user's
access to my drives / folders, or this monitor problem, I'd be grateful.
thanks,
JS
