New to XP

I need some advise about something that occurred to my new
XP upgrade when I downloaded a Service Pack from the MS
website.
Since the Service Pack download, my programs lack the color
frames that I am used to seeing in some of my applications.
Also my Theme settings are not defaulting after rebooting
or shutdown. They default back to their original
configuration.
Any suggestions or advise would be appreciated. I am a
novice so be gentle.

Go to the website of your video card/computer manufacturer and
download the latest Windows XP drivers.
