New to Access 2007- Is it possible to have a "Free Form" form

I have not work with Access very much at all. I would like to create
a form that a department can use to print one record at a time. But I
need to put fields in different places on the page, no just row by
row, column by column. I've done everything that I know to do.

Example: I have a text box that i need to put in the middle of the
form with data above it and below it. When i drag it where I want it
to be, the width of the box shrinks to the same size as all the other
fields in that column. Also some of the fields in that column are
only one character entries, but it shows the field to be the same size
as the rest of the fields.

Any help? This is killin' me! LOL!

Thanks

A really simple way would be to build a form from scratch, and not use the
wizard(s) to create the form for you. When you create a form in this
fashion, none of the controls are grouped together.

For the most part, this automatic grouping of controls is really good for
users, but when you want a size things differently, and not have all the
controls move together as a group, then you want to undo Grouping for those
controls.

Simply bring up the form in design mode, and right click on one of the
fields (text box) on the screen, and then choose layout->remove (you have
tabular, stacked, and remove).

If you want to remove *all* of the controls in the grouping, then simply
click on one of the fields in the group. You will then notice how a little
"+" appears in the upper left of the group, you can click on that, and then
click on the ribbon "arrange" tab, and again your see the tabular, stacked,
and remove option - simply select the remove option, and you'll unlock the
**whole** group. Then, all of the controls and text boxes will then be able
to be moved and resized independently of each other.

That's exactly what I needed!!!!
