It is a text field so you can use an Input Mask to display the field in the
format you want. Since you won't be doing any calculations on a phone number
field, this is ok...
you can change it to a number field if you want, but i wouldn't bother. the
general rule of thumb is to use number fields for values which will be used
in mathematical calculations (and i use number fields for values that need
to be sorted numerically rather than as text) - and obviously neither rule
applies to phone numbers (or to zip codes).
