New System Setup - P4P800-Dlx

Freddie Clark

Finally decided to upgrade from my old P3-866/CUSL2-C. Here is what I have:

P4P800 deluxe
P4 2.8 Prescott CPU
Antec TruePower 550P
1Gb Corsair TwinX 3200LL-Pro
2 X Maxtor 80Gb SATA HDD
2 X Maxtor 120Gb IDE HDD
Asus 402P DVD Burner
Lite-On 5232K CD-RW/DVD Dive
Sapphire 9800Pro Atlantis Radeon
SB Audigy LS

I do not plan to RAID anything
It will be a clean XP Pro Install.
A few Questions.

Can I just put the SATA drives in and boot without loading any drivers ( the
SATA will be my Boot and Data Drives).

Should I use the IDE for the two Optical drives and put the IDE HDD on the
Via controller??
If so do I need to load any drivers for the Via controller.

Anything else which can bite me, before I start on this.

regards
Freddie

You got this as a pair for Dual Channel mode, right?
SB Audigy LS

You don't really need this (if you haven't already bought it), as the
onboard sound is fine.

XP SP1 supports SATA.

Yes.

Yes, to enable ATA133 mode.
