I installed it without uninstalling 3.2 and no problems and no new defs.

Man, you're hosed. Good luck!
Why would you be hosed? Has anyone here had any indications of problems
with SpywareBlaster V3.3 after installing it?

None under Win XP, that I've noted.
Uninstall previous build *first* - then, install new build - enable all protection.

Silj:

My Uninstaller in Add/Remove wouldn't allow me to uninstall the "Blaster",
so I just disabled it and installed the new 3.3 version right over the old
(3.2)one without any complications whatsoever.
What should I possibly be concerned about?

Harry.

Perhaps nothing, Harry - *but* you were missing the installer/uninstaller.
The reason being - the Add/Remove Programs required this dialog to fully
uninstall Spyware Blaster - without this, you are left with remnant files that
most likely would inhibit the correct install of the new build.

Upgrade Instructions.
It is recommended that you uninstall your current version of SpywareBlaster before
installing the new version.
To do this:
1.) Open SpywareBlaster and press the "Disable All Protection" link under "Quick
Tasks".
2.) Close SpywareBlaster.
3.) Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the entry named "SpywareBlaster v3.2"
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
4.) Download the latest SpywareBlaster installer from the link above and run it.

And that is what I did and had no problems taking the old out and
putting the new in <g>

So, how do we know if we should uninstall 3.3 and reinstall it? Mine seems
to be working fine even though I did not disable all protection and did not
uninstall 3.2. As it runs in the background, it's impossible to tell if
anything's wrong.

I didn't write the code, nor do I work for JavaCool, but I think I can
pass along some assurance that nearly any installation, upgrade or
overwrite method with this application will be fine. It's a Visual
Basic 6 application, with a single executable. All it needs to run is
itself and the VB runtime DLLs. It does not "run in the background."
Enabling protections, sets ActiveX "kill bits" in the registry. It does
not stay in memory after these changes are made (enabled).

The databases seem to be the same format between versions, as an online
check indicated no updates needed after "upgrading" from 3.2 to 3.3.

Hope this eases some minds a bit.

The person who was thinking about uninstalling/re-installing v3.3 since
he/she did not uninstall v3.2 first before installing v3.3, but is NOT
having
problems.
