New SP everyday or updated SP everyweek

SPs are not the latest updates right?. For eg the lastt SP
for Xp release months back and new updates are rolled out
after it. So it is really tedious to install SP and after
that the whole lot of pathces....why don't microsoft
update their SP everyweek so that all the updates can be
done at one shot?

Like filling your car up with petrol every week
and oil change every 2-3 months? Wash and vacuum car
every so often also? And then get a new license once a
year?

That would not be practical.
