New Slide Formatting in Presentation

My goal is to create new slides in a presentation with the exact formatting I
desire. I've created a blank.pot file which causes the first slide in a new
presentation to appear as I specify. However subsequent slides still are
created with title and text boxes that I don't want. Yes, I can choose a
blank layout from Content Layouts. But that has to be done with each new
slide. It seems to me that I should be able to create a set of defaults
where new slides appear formatted exactly as the first slide is. I'm talking
about a specific background color, no default text boxes but a default font,
font size and font color. What am I missing? Thank you.

Hi Jim,

I use PPT 2003.

Whenever I want the customizations in my first slide to follow through
for all the rest, I open a blank presentation and switch to Master view
before I create the first slide. That shows me the Master slide where I
can do all the formatting, etc.

Then when I switch back to "normal" view, each additional slide that I
insert has the exact colours, fonts, etc...as the Master.

I'm not sure if this will help you, but it works for me. Best of luck
with this!

Go to View|Master|Slide Master and drag the text placeholders off the edge
of the slide. Don't delete them, or you might end up with white boxes on
your slides where the placeholders should be. This gives you, in effect, a
blank slide even when you use the title+bulleted text slide layout.

Thanks Karen. I appreciate the help. I too am using PPT 2003. I've tried
your prescription and my subsequent slides are still showing up with unwanted
text boxes. Maybe I've got a bug in my installation.

Thanks again,

Jim

Thanks Echo. Your prescription makes a good workaround. The title+bulleted
layout you mention appears to be the default layout. Would you know how to
change that default to say, the blank slide layout in PPT 2003?

Thanks again,

Jim

For a new default layout, you'll have to use a third-party add-in. Shyam
Pillai has one at http://skp.mvps.org/setview.htm Be sure to click the link
to learn how to load an add-in.

What Echo said.

Also, you may find it just as simple, after having added one slide and done all
the fomatting you want, to choose Insert, Duplicate Slide to get another just
like it inserted. Edit the bits that need changing and you're done.

Thanks again echo. I'll look into the third party software.
