new slide default has changed how do I re-set it?

in a new re-install of office 2003 powerpoint seems changed. the new
slide buttom creates a "title slide" NOT a heading with bullet oints
slide. i have no ides how this happened & i have no isea of how to
change it back. a new presentation used to start with a titls slide &
the next new slide was a normal header slide with bullet pint text
frame.

Does anyone know hoe to get the default slide back?

Hi Dan,

when installing/re-installing Office 2003, please do not forget to install
Service Pack 1 and the other updates. That solves a lot of problems.

If your cursor is placed before the first slide in the slide sorter pane on
the right, you usually get a title slide, place it after the title slide.
Does the behaviour change, if you use another template?

i'm a bit of an old hand the un-install & the re-install was a full
new hard drive install of my system - all patches are up to date.
the problem is that ALL new slides no matter where the insertion point
is is a titls slide.

if i export from word - which i often do then ALL the slides in that
export from word ARE TITLE slides.

i dont know how to chnage this. i have never seen it before. i thought
"maybe its like word - delete the "normal.dot" or whatever its called
for powerpoint might fix but on looking i think its
powerpnt.pot but i chnaged its name & when i load powerpoint the
problem is still there

is there a way to fix this? it wastes a lot of time - even if i select
all the slides in a presentation & then click the correct layout it
ownt change them all

changed templates or using an old presentation does noy change this ALL
ne slides are in tatle format

In the Slide Layout task pane (task pane: A window within an Office
application that provides commonly used commands. Its location and
small size allow you to use these commands while still working on your
files.), point to the layout you want, and then click it.
this is from the help menu BUT when inserting a new slide like this it
is always a TITLE slide layout. unless you click directly on the layout
if you use the drop down menu to insert the new slide it will always bi
in title layout.

I would like to fix this without un-installing word & installing from
scratch. I have tried repairing word from the installation menu.
