Default Bullet - where did it come from - how do I change

G

Guest

I am working on a PPT file for a client.
I modified an existing PPT file - the result was a new template and new
master.
I only have one master.
I can add a new text slide, 2 column slide and table slide no problems I get
the bullet that is on my master.

Problem
The client added a new slide - Organizational Chart.
When they clicked in the box to modify the type - it gave a default bullet
from the old original show. I have since then click on the "text box" icon
and added type to the slide - again the same old bullet.

This bullet was a custom bullet in the old show.

How do I change it???
I do not want my client to click and get an old wrong bullet.
I realise they can go to format and change the bullet or click the bullet
off, but the bottom line is the client does not want to do that either.

Help? Where do I find this hidden bullet when it is not on the master??

Thanks Jude

Good try. But the Autoshapes defaults - DOES NOT affect the bullet.
Nor does it affect the type colour.

I question if it is not that the orginal bullet was created in PPT and now
in the XP PPT world you cannot get to that level.

Thanks again for your suggestion!

All I can say is, it works here.

The bullet is picked up from an autoshape, not a textbox. Perhaps that's
what's tripping things up.

I opened a new, blank presentation.

Added a textbox (icon on the drawing toolbar), set the font to Algerian (my
favorite goofy font for testing stuff like this), made it red, and set the
bullet to a yellow checkmark. Right-clicked, Set Autoshapes Default.

Then I added an Org Chart (Insert|Diagram). The text was red Algerian font,
but the bullet didn't show up as a yellow checkmark.

So I drew an oval (drawing toolbar icon). Filled it with dark blue, gave it
a 6-pt green border, and set the bullet to yellow checkmark. Right-clicked
and Set Autoshapes Default again.

Then I inserted another Org Chart using Insert|Diagram.

The Org Chart still shows up with light blue rectangles because that color
is based on the slide color scheme (so setting the oval autoshape with a
dark blue fill and green border was unnecessary). The text is red Algerian
font. Bullets don't show up at all by default, but if I click in a square
and start typing, the bullet shows up automatically, and it's a yellow
checkmark.

You are a PPT master!!!!!!
YOU ROCK!!!

I missed the all important - RIGHT CLICK!!!!
To set the Autoshapes Default.

I was going to Format -> Textbox or Format -> Autoshape
and setting the default that way.

Many, many thanks!!!!

Ah, yeah, that was covered in the link to the previous thread. Glad to hear
you got it working.

I've been working on a ppt for quite a while and use textboxes often. One
day, the text box started inserting a bullet. If I delete the bullet, and
start typing, I get a hanging indent. I tried your suggestion to "set
autoshape defaults" after I deleted the bullet, and it does get rid of the
bullet on all future textboxes, but NOT the hanging indent. My only
solution seems to be to find a text box (b.c.) before the problem started.
Surely ppt has a way to get text boxes back to original format. Other ppt
presos do not have this problem. I am on ppt 2003

Turn on the ruler, drag the indent caret to the correct place, and then set
autoshape defaults.

Just deleting the bullet doesn't fix a hanging indent.
