I'm setting up a computer for someone, but want to ensure I get all the
updates installed along with drivers for the components. When I'm done, I
want to reset the computer so that when the user starts it up they get all
the options to set the computer name and users (same as when it first boots
after the install). How do I do this?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks, but I know how to install XP (have done it hundreds of times). What
I want to know is how, after XP is installed and I've installed drivers,
updates, etc...) how do I reset the system so that when I give it to the
person I'm installing it for, it'll act as if it's the first time it's
booted (i.e. ask for computer name, user names, etc...).

Thanks,
Mike

You cant...as far as I know
You can tell him how to set up his own user name and how to change the computer
name etc etc

I've done it before, so I know it can be done. I just forgot to make a note
of how I did it.

Use Microsofts Sysprep and choose to do a "mini setup". Play with it
first on a system that you dont mind messing up, but we do this on all
of our deployed computers and it works great.

Sysprep.... that's it. I've been searching and searching (just not using
the right key words I guess.) It's probably been over a year since I used
it and I just couldn't remember the name.

Thanks!!!
