New question about Outlook 97 and XP

-- A short while after I have started Outlook 97
a "Microsoft Windows Messaging Subsystem" message
appears, saying "MAPI Spooler has shut down unexpectedly.
Close all mail-enabled applications before attempting to
log on again". This happens even if no other applications
are running.
There is a Microsoft note about this problem with ID
162223, dated November 25, 2002. Of the five possible
causes mentioned, only the one about "a damaged .pst
file" is relevant in my case. Even if I follow the
instructions and create a new profile, the problem
remains. What bothers me is that during the process of
creating the new profile there is a message saying that
the name I am using for my POP 3 server doesn't seem to
be a valid POP 3 server name. However, it is the one I
have got from my ISP and the same one I am using with
another e-mail account, using Outlook Express. Is there
anything strange about Outlook 97 and XP? I suppose XP
was not around when the note was published.

Just a hunch but usually when this error occurs it's looking for a username
and a domain (i.e. (e-mail address removed)) so add the domain along with @
after your username and see what happens.

Can you be more specific? If I click the Properties box on the Profile I am
using, there is on the General tab room for information about "Mail Account".
Is it there you suggest I add "the domain along with @ after your username"?
At the moment my complete e-mail address is in that field.
