New PSU, now cpu temp is 5c higher?

D

dnc_tn

Before replacing my PSU I was getting 33c-35c temps on my CPU, now I
_never_ see anything lower than 39c? And when I do something as simple
as run excel97 my temps go to 41c, playing starcraft sends my temps to
43c!!.

I used to have a 300watt psu which came with the enlight case but then
I started getting random reboots. After eliminating all other
possibilities it had to be the psu being bad so I decided I needed a
newer and bigger psu, so I decided on a 400 watt psu "with 2 fans"

Now I have this psu 'with 2 fans', problem is, one of the 2 fans blows
warm air over or at least near my cpu heatsink fan. Could this be the
reason for my recent increase in CPU temps?????

The new PSU is an Allied AL-B400ATX.

Should I return the PSU and go for a 400 watt PSU with One fan?
or what?
help?

Thanks,

No, you should learn to relax. Geez...

All psu-s suck air from cpu area and eject it out of case.
If your psu blows hot air INSIDE your case then something is BADLY wrong

5c is nothing...and if your PSU was weak and not supplying the correct
voltages to the CPU then an increase in power will also be an increase
in temp. PSU should not pump air into the case for your application.

Thanks,

43C is cool enough.
Most likely the new PSU simply has lower flow rate.
A different reason to return the PSU is that Allied aren't
too good. It "might" be as suitable as the Enlight 300W was
though, Enlight PSU are disproportionately better at 340W,
360W, & higher models than the base came-with-case 300W
model.

So what? Those are perfect temps.

I was under the impression that the fans should be in series to work at
exhausting the hot air from the case. If the fans are blowing the hot
air from inside the PSU into the case, then you need to return that
item, it's defective. The PSU fans contribute to pulling the air through
the case and cooling ALL the components.

I don't know that brand. I'd return the PSU and buy an Antec TruePower
PSU. Very good brand and very quiet, too.

Cheers,

Ari

I have three AMD systems here. One is very similar in spec to yours.
Your temps are fine.

Cut a sheet of light plastic grocery bag and hold it over the PSU's
inner fan hole to see which direction the fan blows.

Asus A7N8X,
uses 5V rail for CPU power.

Use a power supply with at least 200W combined 3V + 5V
rating, in a name-brand PSU.

yes that should suffice, or a Sparkle, Thermaltake, etc. A
400W PSU is plenty unless you have a lot of hungry parts you
didn't mention, but the Allied is overrated.

Yes, but you really could have typed
"power supply" site:amd.com
into google and found that out for yourself:
