New problem with monitor

In the last hour, I'm noticing that my monitor screen goes dark for about 1
second and then comes back to normal. What might be causing this?

Loose wires
Lousy power supply
Video card needs reseating
loose plug in the wall
etc etc

You can also check for your software settings either ways. Like:

Blank Screen Saver
Power Options settings under Control Panel (Turn Off Monitor - System Standby)

Increase the timings of both or set them to none.
