Blacked out monitor

Big problem.. kids wanted to try to play a game that wouldn't open and the
"error" message said to try changing display settings...they did...tried
several times and it didn't work..tried again and must have done something
now the monitor is a completely black screen. I at first thought that
perhaps the monitor blew up but the screen saver shows up so I think the
monitor is fine. However, I can not change the settings back to normal
because the screen stays black. When I shut down the monitor and turn it
back on it shows a pop-up that says self diagnosis are setting correct? I
haven't found any key or button that will affect it and after about 15
seconds the screen goes black. I have also tried changing out monitors but
the same thing happens. HELP!!!

It sounds like you have a restore partition on the harddrive with
manufacturers software in it which is saying something about iagnostics. You
may have a restore CD that came with the computer. You will probably be given
options if you put the restore cd in the cdrom drive and reboot the comutr.
You may need to enter the bios set the boot order so the computr boots from
the restore cd.
I have never had a computer with a restore cd but I have just restored my
own computer with Seagate Disk Wizard which is similar to a restore cd and
supplied fre by Seagate for Seagate and Maxtor harddrives which Seagate
sell....so maybe I can help.
