New Power Options not Accessible

B

Bill Mathews

If I go into power options and define settings for a new option, then 'save'
it under a new name, it seems to work. But when I open the power options the
next time, the new option doesn't display just the same three that were
there before the new option was defined.
I checked the registry, and the new option is being saved to the proper
place there.
Win XP Pro, SP3. All current updates in place.
I've tried
1. Shutting down all the non-MS processes before running the power options -
same result.
2. Copying powercfg.cpl from a backup - same result.
3. Setting the options from within the Control Panel - same result.

With the exception of the problem noted above, the power options otherwise
work as expected.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Bill,

Just make the adjustments to your default power scheme and click apply.
this should hold the settings properly you do not need to define a new power
scheme.
