New PC won't boot and no post beep

Hi,

I've bought a new pc yesterday (AMD 2400 +, 512 Mb RAM, 64Mb AGP) i build.
Before to put HDD and DVD, i would test the motherboard with memory, cpu and
AGP graphic card, monitor and keyboard.
When i turned on the computer, only the cpu fan turned during 5 secondes and
then the computer stops. There was no beep, nothing appeared on the screen.
I verified all the connection at least 2000 times.
I removed the memory and then i've heard a long beep but the computer still
stopped.
I replaced the memeory and removed the graphic card, nothing.
Removed and replaced the cpu fan and processor.

This is not the first time i build a PC. I've got problem with HDD, Graphic
card, unplugged cable...
But never this problem.

I don't know what to do or what to test.

So please can you help me ?

Thanx in advance

Stef

Just an Idea:

Clear the CMOS. At least here it works! When I made a change to the CMOS
yesterday and went for a reboot I found I couldn't boot my new computer.
There wasn't even a beep although some lights went on for a bit. I *thought*
I wood have to clear the CMOS and checked the manual . The manual said to
clear the CMOS when the computer doesn't boot, and said do so by unplugging
power and removing the battery for ten minutes. So I did. When I booted next
time the computer worked although it wanted me to hit F4 to go into the CMOS
and fix the clock and other configurations wiped when I cleared the CMOS.

Your mobo may have another way to clear the CMOS etc. but it might work.

This is because with all the different configurations you pulled on the mobo
while testing the CMOS has 'sort of' jammed.

My brother's computer's CMOS display corrupted when we were shuffling around
harddrives last week. On his computer I could clear the CMOS by shorting
jumper pins. Once done the CMOS display at the beginning of the boot was
fine.

Sorry for asking but you are sure you completely cleared the CMOS? Sometimes
you have to wait ten minutes and make sure the power is unplugged from the
wall outlet.

| Thanks.
| I clear the cmos without effect.
| I don't think there is a hardware failure cause the computer is new, but
| now...

Try it without anything and see if you can get the fans
to run. Then add parts one at a time.

If fans are not even turning then I would suspect either the power
supply has gone or something is shorting the +12V to ground, like a
plug or part of a board touching metal. Inspect the plugs, cable and
clearances.

Is the cpu fan connected some m/b won't boot with the cpu fan disconnected?
AGP card correctly seated? Good memory and seated? If you have a PCI
video card try that instead of the AGP. Switch memory positions or use
only one stick.

Pls post details about your m/b, memory and video card.
