new pc, not used to xp, need help

i just got a new pc, it came with xp on it, and ive been using 98 se, i am
trying to use directcc.exe (with no success at all) to tranfer files over so
i can retire my old 98 se pc, can anyone here help me? i have a parallel
cable hooked to both machines, i try running the program on the 98, but i
cant get anywhere, would there be a directcc.exe for xp? or is there another
way using the parallel cable?
i would greatly appreciate any help i can get in this.
 
You might want to use the Files and Transfer Wizard or the User State
Migration tools.

They probably wont work with a parallel cable, but they should let you make
a backup of the files to a CD or DVD, then you can copy them to the XP PC.

They should be in the XP cd under \support\tools

Use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (FAST) . See this article:
