New/old OS install on Sony laptop??

I want to do a new XP install on my Sony laptop that came
with XP preinstalled. I just want to get a total new fresh
start on my computer a new slate so to speak. Anyway I
currently have a C & D drive. Will my XP CD that came with
my laptop redivide my hard drive into a C & D
automatically or will I have to do that after installing
XP? Just wondering because I like it the way I have it.

The CD that came with your laptop will restore it to exactly the way it was
when you received it. That means anything you have added since, (updates,
new software, etc.) will be lost.
