I'm hoping someone will respond to this post as it will assist me
tremendously in my trouble-shooting.
I recently upgrade to xp SP2 and found a new network connection
called: Qos Packet Scheduler. Was this installed by Microsoft
whine I installed SP2??

Thanks,
James

No. For details: "Windows XP Quality of Service (QoS) Enhancements and
Behavior" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316666).

It is a standard service in XP - it would have been there before too.
It relates to guaranteeing specific programs that use it a minimum
amount of bandwidth on your net connection, no matter what else is going
on. These are not common, but having it active does *not* restrict
bandwidth when none is running, so it does no harm - you could d-click
the entry and set Startup type to Manual, so it does not load unless one
comes along asking for it
