Is it wise to install Windows 2000 on these new motherboards and CPU's with
dual channel DDR400 memory and Hyper Treading etc, etc? or should I use
Windows XP?

cheers

Which ever you want. As far as Win2000 and HT CPU's, if you have issues,
disable HT in the BIOS. As far as the "value" of hyperthreading, with
most software it's only "HYPE"erthreading. :)

Win2K doesn't support hyperthreading, so you'd get better
performance from WinXP. Also, Win2K is a lot closer to its
end-of-life, as far as being fully supported by Microsoft, than is
WinXP.

Windows 2K support hyperthreading quite well. It's got a little bug in it
when dealing with multiple hyper-threaded cpus (ie: two Xeon's) in that it
doesn't use them in order (1,3,2,4 instead of 1,2,3,4). But other than that
it works fine.
