New messages go to outbox (2007)

My new messages have always gone into the inbox. That was true until
sometime last week when the messages started to go into the outbox instead of
the inbox. The setup shows new messages are supposed to go to the inbox, but
it's not happening. Anyone have any ideas about how to get my messages to go
to the inbox instead of the outbox?
