Hi Bernardus

After a major hardware change, such as the one you are contemplating, you
will at least need to do a repair install (also known as an in-place
upgrade).
This will reconfigure XP to suit the new hardware.

For details on this procedure see the following Knowledge Base article

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q315341

After doing this you may need to re-activate your installation of XP. If it
has been more than 120 days since you last re-activated you should be able
to activate over the internet, otherwise it will require a short phonecall.

After the repair install you will need to re-install any XP service packs
and updates.

The other alternative, which a lot of users (myself included) prefer, is a
clean install of XP. If necessary,
you should back up any important files before embarking on either procedure.

Hope that helps
Pete

Good point Jim,

If Bernardus doesn't already have a retail XP CD he may be best advise to
purchase one. It would avoid any disappointment in the future.

Then just follow the instructions and you should have no
problem.
